The history of education in Vormsi dates back to 1873 when the first schools were opened. The existing schoolhouse was finished in 1937 when the pupils studied in Swedish and Estonian. In 2005 the school and kindergarten were given a name of Vormsi Kindergarten – Basic School.
Kindergarten in Vormsi offers a favourable environment for development and growth to little children of Vormsi. The children of today are characterised by activity, wit and creativity. The kindergarten is a sweet homely place where openness and cooperation are considered important.
Learning at school is carried out in composite classes, allowing each pupil to learn individually in accordance with their abilities and skills. There is a metal- and woodwork house beside the school and a football pitch behind the schoolhouse.
The Board of Trustees of Vormsi Kindergarten-Basic School for the 2024/2025 school year includes: Maris Jõgeva – parent representative (school), Geidy Piip – parent representative (school), Ardi Ilves – parent representative (kindergarten), Heily Piip – teacher representative (school), Ene Koitla – representative of teachers (kindergarten), Egelin Kanarbik – representative of students, Kaisa Valm – representative of alumni, Kristina Rajando – representative of organizations supporting the school and Triin Lepp – representative of the school administrator.
